Facebook is allowing certain pages to embed public posts on their blogs or websites, including those with pictures, videos, hashtags, and other content. You can Like, Follow, and Share directly from the site where the post is embedded. The initial rollout is only available to certain news publishers including CNN, PEOPLE, and Mashable; stay tuned for updates as to when this will become more widely available.

LinkedIn introduced Sponsored Updates as a way for companies to market their content to appear directly in audience’s news feeds. The advertising feature allows companies to target members outside their current follower base using professional profile data. Sponsored Updates are clearly marked so they can be differentiated from organic content.

instagramInstagram: Version 4.1

Instagram released its latest round of app updates, which includes the ability to upload videos from your device’s media library. Users can trim their "canned" video clips to the desired length and choose how to square-crop the frame, so now you can easily share that video clip of your 90-year-old grandmother blowing out the candles on her birthday cake without the embarrassing section featuring you singing Happy Birthday out of tune. Other updates include auto-straightening photos and Video for Instagram availability to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) users.

There's nothing more frustrating for Facebook Page managers than an unannounced change to the EdgeRank algorithm (AKA that thing that makes your posts appear in your followers feeds or not). Staying up-to-date on the mechanics behind getting your content seen by your audience is imperative – and Facebook recognizes how important this is for community managers. Luckily, Facebook announced a new blog series devoted to sharing algorithm updates and other pertinent Pages news. We'll be keeping a close eye on it and sharing updates regularly, so be sure to follow Gremln on Twitter & Facebook!

Not to be outdone in the social/mobile/video world, the founders of YouTube developed MixBit - a video creation app. MixBit differs from its Vine and Video for Instagram counterparts in its community feature, which allows people to create collaboratively and remix already-produced videos. The app is currently available for iOS devices, and will be coming soon to Android.
